Steve Griffis (1956 - 2016)

WAPAKONETA — Steve A. Griffis, 60, of Wapakoneta, died 1:06 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

He was born March 17, 1956, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Hoyt & Barbara (Carr) Griffis. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Warren Cook. On Jan. 3, 1998, he married Cheryl R. Huber, and she survives.

Other survivors include two children, Charles D. "C.J." Girffis, and Megan Griffis, both at home; sister, Dolores Davis and Paul Davis, Springfield, Ohio; stepbrothers, Rick Cook and Tim Cook, brother, Dave (Loretta) Cook, and sister, Peggy Latimer, all of Sidney; father-in-law, Charles Huber, Wapakoneta; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mary Huber.

Steve was a line leader and inspector at Ross Aluminum, Sidney where he had worked over 25 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, old muscle cars, and NASCAR. Steve was also an outstanding artist.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday May 11, 2016, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Daniel Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave. (state Route 501) Wapakoneta.
