Virginia Mae Melick, of Sidney, passed away at 7:05 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 13, 1938, in Johnstown, the daughter of the late Hobert and Dorothy (Swick) Kincaid.

On Aug. 31, 1958, she was married to Lynn A. Melick, who survives along with their two children, Lyle Melick and wife, Ann, of Alliance, and Brenda Boss and husband, Tom, of Anna; eight grandchildren, John Melick and wife, McCartney, of Nashville, Tenn., Christy Melick, of Columbus, Betsy Melick, of Akron, Jessica Melick, of Cleveland, Ian Melick and Colin Melick, both of Liberty Township, Bailey Boss and Shelby Boss, both of Anna; one brother, Harry Kincaid and wife, Sharon, of Johnstown; and one daughter-in-law, Marge Melick, of Liberty Township. She was preceded in death by one son, Alan Melick.

Mrs. Melick was a homemaker. She served as a volunteer at Wilson Memorial Hospital for several years. As her children grew up, Virginia was an active Scout leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop, as well as a Scout adult for her son's Boy Scouts. She also volunteered in the clinic at Whittier Elementary in Sidney. Virginia enjoyed researching genealogy, gardening, and sewing. She was a long-time member of Sidney First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with the Rev. George Gnade officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown.

The family will receive friends on Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
