COVINGTON — Walter R. McGraw, age 87, of Covington, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.

He was born in Portsmouth, to the late Forest and Nancy (Russell) McGraw; a WWII U.S. Army veteran; retired from Hobart with more than 40 years of service; liked to hunt, fish and garden and loved nature.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa (Tucker) McGraw; two sons, Walter R. McGraw Jr. and Patrick Allen McGraw; son-in-law, Richard Snider; two brothers, Carl and Harold McGraw; and baby sister, MaryAnn McGraw.

Walter is survived by son Larry Michael (Rebecca Ann) McGraw, of Covington; two daughters, Connie Snider and Carol Meiring, both of Sidney; five grandchildren, Scott (Tammy) Alexander, of Troy, Michael (Kelley) McGraw, of New Weston, Shawn Meiring, of Covington, Sarina (Ryan) Swarts, of Piqua, and Eric Meiring, of Piqua; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Christian Alexander and Mercy and Margaux Swarts; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at noon at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington, with Chaplain Ed Ellis officiating. Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington with military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
