PORT JEFFERSON — Earnestine DeVault, 65, of 431 W. Main St., Port Jefferson, passed away at 8:20 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1949, in Leon, W.Va., the daughter of the late Ray and Lona Bell (Casto) Cain. Earnestine was married to the Rev. Daniel Ashcraft, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was later married to Paul DeVault, who survives along with five children, Paula (Eric) Bell, of Port Jefferson, Rene DeVault of Etowah, Tenn., Paul Ray DeVault Jr., Geneva Ashcraft and Joshua (Elizabeth) Ashcraft, all three of Sidney; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie Cain, of Leon, W.Va., Sam Cain, of Michigan, Lee Casto, of London, Mary Kimbler, of Port Jefferson, Barb Grey, of Maplewood, and Alice Bennett, of Bloomingsburg. She was preceded in death by one child, two sisters, two brothers and one grandchild.

Earnestine had worked for the Stolle Corp., and also the former The Pharm in Sidney. She was a homemaker, as well. Earnestine was a member of the Russell Road Christian Center in Sidney. She was a big Elvis fan, enjoyed gardening, canning and, most of all, spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at Russell Road Christian Center in Sidney, with Pastor John Silkauskas officiating.
