SIDNEY — Billy Ray Murray, 71, of 1227 Spruce Ave., Sidney, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 3:39 p.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 8, 1942, in Jellico, Tenn., the son of the late Lee and Bertha (Bunch) Murray.
Billy is survived by his stepmother, Geraldine (Lloyd) Murray, of Sidney; one son, Chuck Murray and wife, Jennifer, of Sidney; one daughter, Michelle Murray, of St. Augustine, Fla.; seven siblings, Dan Murray and wife, Linda, Wade Murray, Glenna Murray, all of Sidney, Tom Murray and wife, Rhonda, of Troy, Waylan Murray and wife, Mona, Dianne Murray, and Donnie Murray and wife, Penni, all of Sidney; and two grandchildren, Zack and Saryn.
Billy was an avid sports fan. In his earlier days he enjoyed listening to country music and performed in various country music bands. After he got saved he found a new love for gospel music and used his talents to play and sing gospel music in church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with Pastor Max Knasel officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
