PIQUA — Betty A. Monnin, 88, of Piqua, died at 4:06 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at Hospice of Dayton.

She was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Piqua to the late Purcell J. and Ann (Buirley) Schwartz. She married Isidore L. "Bud" Monnin on May 27, 1947, in Newport; he preceded her in death Dec. 2, 2008.

Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Herbe ,of Piqua, Carol Yaney, of Troy, Anita Branam, of Piqua, and Lois (Wayne) Kelley, of West Rutland, Vt.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Yaney, of Troy, Christopher Branam, Jennifer Maness, Jason Branam, Jeremy Branam, all of Piqua; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Yaney Jr., and a sister, Pat Sink.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and worked along side her husband as the office manager and co-owner of the family business, Piqua Wheel Alignment. As an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church she was a member of its Altar Society, volunteered countless hours on the Label Committee which funded many Parish needs. She was a generous supporter of religious charities and the Bethany Center. She, with her husband Bud, enjoyed Ballroom Dancing for many years and loved playing cards, fishing, entertaining guests and working with ceramics. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday April 25, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas L. Bolte as the primary Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, where a prayer service will be conducted at 5 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Center, 339 South St., Piqua, OH 45356.
