SIDNEY — Ira "Frank" Puckett, 85, of 1021 Riverbend Blvd., passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was born on Sept. 21, 1928, in Russell County, Virginia, the son of the late Ira G. and Gertrude (Coe) Puckett.
On Jan. 9, 1954, he was married to Virginia Blanche Morrison, who survives along with two children, Doris Ann Osterloh and husband, Kenneth, of Minster, and Roger Leon Puckett and wife, Constance, of Jackson Center; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Puckett worked in highway construction in his earlier career. He later was employed at the former Con Met in Sidney, and most recently he worked for Dorothy Love Retirement Community as a maintenance person. Frank was a member of the Sidney VFW, where he liked to help out regularly. He enjoyed fishing and tending his garden. Frank was quite the handyman, and liked doing mechanical repair work and fixing up various items. He enjoyed the holidays, and most of all spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with the Rev. Dale Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
