SIDNEY — H. Fred Jordan, 77, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Lake Placid, Florida.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1936, in Fosters, Ohio, the son of the late Hugh and Agnes (Archer) Jordan.
On Nov. 21, 1971, he was married to M. Joan Mumaw, who survives him along with four sons, Rocky Forney, of Sidney, Ohio, Scott Forney of Brockton, Massachusetts, Chris (Therese) Jordan of Hamilton, Ohio, and Mark Jordan of Sidney, Ohio; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Marjorie Schaefer, of Bloomingburg, Ohio; one brother, Robert (Karen) Jordan, of St. Charles, Maryland; and two sisters-in-law; Peggy Jordan, of Kissamee, Florida, and Greta Jordan of Eato, Colorado.
Fred was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Carlos Jordan.
Mr. Jordan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as a submarine aid from 1957-1960 in New London, Connecticut. Fred was a graduate of Leman-Monroe High School, class of 1955. He attended Ohio University and was employed in banking for 12 years. He then worked for Monarch Machine in Sidney and later for Copeland.
He and his wife retired and spent their winters in Lake Placid, Florida. Fred enjoyed playing golf and cards with friends. He was a member of the Sidney Moose, Elks and the American Legion Post 217.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
