SIDNEY — Bobbie Rae (Rice) Webb, age 106, a long time child of God went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 8, 2014.

Heaven rejoiced on this day to receive one of its saints to be with The Lord in eternity. Psalm 116:16 - Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Bobbie was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, on March 11, 1908, to the late Robert Myers and Olena Perkins (Leese) Whitus; also preceded in death by her in-laws from her first marriage, Josephine (Zimmerman) and Richard O. Rice, whom she adored and had a special place in her heart for them. They were like second parents to her.

By the grace of the Lord, Bobbie has lived a long and beautiful life. But with that long life came a sadness of sorts, one she would talk about often. A feeling of aloneness, by seeing so many family and friends precede her in death. But because of her strong belief in the Lord and her willingness to serve Him she was able to stand strong and walk the path He had chosen for her.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her first husband of 28 years, Alonzo Curtis Rice, and her second husband of 47 years, Joseph "Red" Ralph Webb. Bobbie was also preceded in death by sons, Ralph Jennings Rice, Paul Leslie Rice, and daughter Nowanna Jo (Rice) Mott.

Bobbie had seven sisters who preceded her in death, Gertie Redman, Bertha Mary Whitus, Mattie Logan Keller, Angie Lee Royal, Bessie Sowder/Strunk, Mahala Hancock/Miller and Rachael Steele; also one brother Otto Henry Whitus.

Bobbie is survived by her grandchildren, Kristine Rice, Pamela Rice-Blackford, Ralph Jennings "RJ" Rice II and wife, Peggy, and Debbie (Mott) Thomas, and two great-grandchildren Jill Augustine Rice and Angela Stephanie Blackford. Bobbie is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and a very dear and loyal friend, Brenda Jarrett.

In the early 1900s when Bobbie was growing up she worked on her parent's farm, where she used the plow, milked the cows, brought water back from the stream, and many other farm jobs. She always said when she got married her father was sad because he was losing a farm hand.

Bobbie was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Fairhaven Nursing Home and was a private nurse working in people's homes throughout her working career. She loved to take care of people.

After she retired and she was in her late seventies, she made two Christian pilgrimages to the Holy Land to explore the roots of her faith. She loved taking these trips and was in awe of what she saw and learned. She would have liked to have taken a third trip but she felt she was getting a little too old.

Bobbie made beautiful quilts, all the stitching was by hand, and she never used a sewing machine on her quilts. She was a fantastic cook and made so many family recipes from scratch. She lived through the Depression and other hard times and was able to make a meal out of practically nothing. She loved to write stories and poetry while she was home. She loved to read and share what she wrote to anyone who would listen.

Bobbie was proud of her church, Full Gospel Community Church. She has been a member since the very early beginnings and was very instrumental in starting the church. She has watched it blossom into the beautiful church it is today. She held many positions in the church throughout her life. She has given as much as she has received from her church because her heart truly belonged to her deep faith in serving her Lord.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, Ohio, with Pastor Jeff Hill officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
