NEWPORT — Edward Schulze, 71, of Newport, died at 4:40 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born March 30, 1943, in Fort Loramie, to the late Fred and Mary (Stricker) Schulze. He married Ruth Benanzer on Sept. 3, 1966, in Fort Loramie. She survives in Newport.
He is also survived by sons, Nickolas and Nichole Schulze, Oran, and Thomas Schulze, Versailles; three grandchildren, Christina, Megan and Sara; brothers and sisters, Doris and Elmer Rutschilling, Osgood, Wilfred Schulze, Piqua, Raymond and Betty Schulze, Sidney, Lavern and Diane Schulze, St. Henry, and Marlene McMullen, Troy; in-laws, Charles Mertz, Sidney, Karen Schulze, Minster, Judy and Victor Schulze, McCartyville, Mary and Richard Berning, Newport, Agnes and John Fisher, Wapakoneta, Rose Muhlenkamp, Tipp City, Louise and Rex Frey, Fort Loramie, and Joe and Pam Benanzer, Sidney.
He was preceded in death by brothers Rich Schulze and Fred Schulze; sister Alma Mertz; and in-laws Mary Schulze, Leroy and Linda Benanzer, and Bill Muhlenkamp.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport, a life member of Newport Sportsman's Club, AMVETS, Sidney and Minster F.O.E. No.1391. He was a fabricator for Stolle Corp., Sidney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport with the Rev. Steven Shoup, celebrant. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
