SIDNEY — Jerome K. "Jerry" Martin, 77, of Sidney, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 1 a.m. at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on Nov. 4, 1936, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Kenneth and Wilma (Watson) Martin.
On July 10, 1970, he married Joyce Beer who survives along with four children, Kim Jordan and Kris Masteller, both of Sidney, Phillip Martin, of Tennessee, and Jennifer Bollheimer (Mark), of New Bremen; one sister, DeeDee Smith (Dale), of Troy; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, DeAnna McKibben, and two grandsons, Mitchell Masteller and Andrew Bollheimer.
Mr. Martin retired from LeRoi as a tool designer and machinist. After his retirement he continued working part-time as a driver for Buckeye Ford. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Jerry was a joking and fun loving man. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, attending car shows, and was an Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan. Jerry was especially an avid fan of his grandchildren's sporting events.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 Water St., Sidney, with the Rev. Jonathan W. Schriber officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney.
