SIDNEY - Donald Joseph Brulport, 81, of Sidney, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 13, 1932, in Springfield, the son of the late Fredrick Joseph and Mary Lucetta (Saltzgaber) Brulport.
On Aug. 17, 1952, he was married to Marilyn Martz, who survives along with four children, Scott Brulport and wife Nancy of Medina, Renee Moore and husband, Terry, of Satellite Beach, Fla., David Brulport and wife, Leanna, of Sidney, and Leah Brulport-Stagno, of Wapakoneta; nine grandchildren, Sean Brulport and wife, Sharon, Bryan Brulport, Dan Brulport, Tony Brulport and wife, Victoria, Nathan Brulport and wife, Catherine, Brittany Brulport, Kris Griffith and husband, Steve, Katie Cotterman, and John-Michael Cotterman; and three great-grandchildren, Mason Brulport, Benjamin Griffith and Owen Cotterman. Also surviving is his brother, Gerald E. Brulport and wife Mary, of Sidney. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Don was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1952-54, during the Korean War. He was stationed in Munich, Germany, where his wife and son, Scott joined him in 1953.
After the service, Don completed his architecture degree at Miami University in Oxford. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He was associated with Freytag & Associates Inc. in Sidney as an architect until he and his wife moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1985. After returning to Sidney in 1992, he resumed the profession he always enjoyed at Freytags until retirement.
Don will be missed by his and Marilyn's many friends, especially the "Friday Night Group," whose company they enjoyed during their weekly dinner get-togethers for more than 30 years. Don was a dedicated family man. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will all miss him dearly.
Don was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where a memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Jonathan W. Schriber officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements are in the care of the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund, or the Wapakoneta Manor Activities Fund in memory of Donald Joseph Brulport. Envelopes will be available at the church.
