WAPAKONETA — JoAnn M. Knueve, 62, of Wapakoneta, died 4:25 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015, at her residence with her family at her side.
She was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Mary (McClellan) Riethman. On April 6, 1973, she married John P. Knueve, and he survives.
Other survivors include four children, Angela (Bill) Carter, Scot (Keri) Knueve, Joe (Kim) Knueve, and Julie (Brad) Stevely, all of Wapakoneta; 13 grandchildren, Katelyn, Madison, Victoria, Myah, Blake, Brenan, Hanah, Kloie, Jonathon, Cole, Max, Chelsea and Tyler; two sisters, Mary (Louis) Christman, Anna, and Jane Locker, Columbus; a sister-in-law, Deloris (Roger) Bey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Frank Riethman, and a brother-in-law, Paul Locker.
A homemaker, JoAnn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta and a 1971 graduate of Anna High School. She enjoyed making crafts. She made the flowers for her children and granddaughter's weddings. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. Her strong Catholic faith was the guidance needed for her battle with cancer.
She found joy in taking care of others. She babysat for many families that turned into one united "babysitting family." She enjoyed farming, gardening, decorating, and loving her grandkids. Her love and devotion for her husband was a testament to all. She was a lovable soul and always put everyone's needs before her own. One of her favorite pastimes was taking a Gator ride out to the fields to check on the crops. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, wife, and friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund for the family's wishes.
