James Franklin Large(1938 - 2018)

James Franklin Large passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, May 28, 2018 (Memorial Day), following a short battle with thyroid cancer. He celebrated his 80th birthday in February and was a resident of Santa Clarita, CA for 50+ years. Jim was born February 24, 1938 in La Junta, CO and grew up in Pueblo, CO.

He was a talented athlete and scholar, attending Pueblo Jr College, University of Colorado Boulder, and completing his Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at USC, here in Southern CA. Jim spent over 40 years working as an engineer.

He was a simple, practical man who loved God, his family and sports. He was a fiercely loyal friend, gifted artist and a hilariously fun and loving person. Throughout his life he brought joy to many by inciting laughter and humor, even in difficult times, and was always the life of the party.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him including his beloved wife of 53 years, Rosemary Large; daughters and grandchildren: Lisa (Large) Suarez, Shannon Suarez, Ryan Westby, Shannon (Large) Tester, Adrian, Christian and Claire Tester; his sister, Janet (Ratcliff) McCracken and family. James will also be remembered fondly by all of the SCV Soccer Players, swimmers, and neighbors who have ever called him Grandpa, Coach Grandpa, or Grandpa Jim. In lieu of flowers, donations to Thyroid Cancer Research at www.thyroid.org would be appreciated.
