Lucia (D'Egidio) Capra

1918 - 2014

Lucia D'Egidio Capra passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the company of her family. She was the loving Matriarch of her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Lucia was born on December 18,1918 in San Polo Matese, Italy to Carolina Velotta and Michele D'Egidio. She immigrated to the United States as a young bride to join her handsome husband, Guerino Capra, to begin their new life together in New Jersey. She had three children, Lena, John, and Carol, whom were the joy of her life. In later years upon her husband's retirement, they moved to California to join their children and their families. Lucia will be remembered as a gifted homemaker and cherished for her warm, outgoing personality, her generous spirit and faith in God, and for the fabulous Italian food she cooked for her extended family and friends. She always made everyone feel special and loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guerino "Wally" Capra, daughter, Lena Matlosz, and brother, Giovanni D'Egidio. She is survived by her brother, Arthur D'Egidio, and her children, John (Doris) Capra and Carol Capra, seven beloved grandchildren and eleven cherished great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-laws.

In celebration of her life, a Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 and a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary. The Internment will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
