Lucile "Lucy" Novak Obituary
Lucile "Lucy" Novak
1915 – 2013

Lucile "Lucy" Novak, age 98, a resident of Newhall, CA passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Santa Clarita, CA. Lucile was born May 21, 1915 in Eureka Springs, AR, the youngest of six children born to Joel and Stella Libbey.

When her mother died in 1918 and her father wasn't able to care for the children, they were separated and went to live with other families. At a young age she left Berryville, AR and moved to Kansas City, MO to be near her sisters. She met Otto Novak and they were married June 1, 1938. In the early 1940's they moved to California and made Los Angeles County their home. When Otto passed away May 8, 1981 Lucile remained in Newhall and often said, "I'm a 'California Girl', blessed with very special friends and this is home."

Lucile was a member of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She helped set up the hospital Gift Shop in 1975 and continued her volunteer service for more than 30 years. Through her spunk, love, service, and dedication she made a positive difference to the Gift Shop and the hospital.

Lucile was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Jack Libbey; sisters: Dorothy Alderson, Esther Burger, Myrtle Shelton, Hattie Leyda; niece, and Norma Brooks.

She is survived by nieces Shirley Baker, Kingman AZ and Joanne Baker, Cabot, AR; as well as, great nephews, nieces, and their families living in other states.
