1920 - 2014

Anna Jeanette Stanley passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her daughter's home following a short illness. She was born April 1, 1920 to Andrew and Dorothy Effinger in Philadelphia, PA. She was the oldest of seven children.

Anna moved from Pennsylvania to California in 1950 where she met her husband Dr. Leon Stanley. They married in October of 1951 and moved to Santa Clarita in 1956 where Anna raised her two children and managed her husband's medical office for many years.

Anna had a servant's heart with great compassion for others demonstrated by her commitment to volunteerism. She was very active during WWII as a Red Cross Gray Lady at both Wills Eye Hospital and the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. After moving to California she continued volunteering with the Red Cross and with the VA Hospital for over 25 years. She was also a volunteer at St. Clare's Gift Shop for many years until its closing. Anna had a great love and respect for Native Americans and supported several Native American tribes in Montana throughout her life.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Linda Kimbell of Santa Clarita, CA; grand-children: Chelsea Johnson and Courtney Bulmahn of Santa Clarita, CA; Kimberly Foster (David) of La Plata, MD; grandson Eric Hainline (Rachel) of Dayton, OH; great-grandchildren: Harlow Bulmahn, Catrina Foster, Briana Foster, John Foster, Alyssa Foster, Ramiyah Hainline, Jeremiah Hainline. and Selah Hainline; brothers: Andrew Effinger (Naida), Albert Effinger, John Effinger (Betty); sister Agnes O'Brien; numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Leon Stanley, her daughter Karen Betsworth, her brother Francis Effinger, her sister Rose Riegel, and her parents.

A mass in her name will be said on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country, CA 91351. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Eternal Valley Mortuary, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321. Her daughter requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, MT (www.stlabre.org/).
