ANN JOHNSON Obituary

JOHNSON, ANN S. Nov. 13, 1927 to October 6, 2010 Ann was born and raised in Northern Minnesota. Her dad, K.C. Satterfield, was the Superintendent of Schools for the Buhl School District. She was accepted to the University of Minnesota where she met her future husband, Bruce. In 1952, the couple moved to San Diego. Bruce, then a Naval Officer, reported for active duty during the Korean War. Ann was an active volunteer. She was very busy with what was then the Chula Vista Community Hospital. She served on many committees including as President of the Hospital Auxilliary, and helped to organize many fundraising events during her years there. She also taught swimming to children through the Red Cross and spent much of her time involved in her children's school activities from band to football and their extra curricular adventures from goats to horses, dogs and chickens. She was always very creative. She began her painting career under the tutelage of the late Doris Cox. She completed an AA degree from Southwestern College and created over 70 beautiful and cherished oil paintings and water colors which hang in homes and offices from Chula Vista to Colorado. Ann was very fond of travel. She travelled all over the world, from Europe to China, Japan and Africa. She had RV'd to every state in the union except Alaska, which she visited via cruise ship. She is greatly missed. She is survived and loved by husband Bruce, daughter Melissa, son Bruce Jr. (Beverlee), and her sister Evelyn (Lloyd).
