BOBBY MORRIS Obituary

MORRIS, BOBBY DON Bobby Don Morris was born on March 2, 1934 in Vernon, TX. He moved to San Diego when he was seven. He graduated from Kearny High School, Class of 1952, where he met his wife, Betty Jo. They would have been married 55 years, October 28th. Bobby served in the Army Reserves and National Guard for 40 years, spanning the Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf wars. He achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel. Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking in the High Sierras and the deserts of California. He also loved the fall, when football season was in full swing. He was a faithful Aztec fan! Bobby loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo, his two daughters, Barbara Jean and Margie Eileen, son-in-law, Robert Fish, sisters-in-law Priscilla Morris and Gail Knight, brother-in-law Morris Knight, and five grandchildren, Moriah Sandy, Jacob Sandy, Michaela Sandy, Gregory Fish, and Bobby Fish, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bobby died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, September 28th, while camping with his wife Betty in Lone Pine. The campsite was at the base of Mt. Whitney, where he and Betty had hiked, and next to a pristine lake and a flower-filled meadow with roaming wild horses. Next to him was the woman he loved; his favorite dog Peaches was at his feet. In his words, "a good death." A full military service will be held on Wednesday, November 24th, at 2 p.m. at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma. A reception/wake will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The San Diego State Aztec Club, 5300 Campanile Dr., San Diego, CA 92182-4313.

A "Soldier" who will be fondly remembered is what my friend Nate Robertson wrote. As the Regimental Chaplain, I want to send prayer and peace to all the family and friends who mourn the loss of Bob. Please let this be an occassion for drawing closer together and realizing how precious life, family and friendship are and the present is when and where we need each other. God bless and keep each of you in His perfect Peace.

Dear Morris Family
Just a few thoughts about Bobby in high school...what a football player..so supportive and always ready to help the team...enjoyed all our sports experiences together. Losing your soul mate and high school sweetheart is so hard to bear but you were so good together even in the beginning....you knew just like Jean and I did that you were right for each other. Thanks for the memories Dan Baker

Dearest Betty, How saddened I was when I heard the news about Bobby. He was so very loved by all who knew him. He was one of the Ushers at me and Jims Wedding and I have so many fond memorys of our high school days. It was so obvious to anyone who saw the two of you together, how much he loved and adored you. Be strong and remember you will be with him again someday and what a joyous occassion that will be!! You were one of my favorite couples. What a pleasure it was to have known Bobby. Love always, Peggy Ryan
