CAROLYNE BURNS Obituary

BURNS, CAROLYNE T. Carolyne (Nana), loving mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and friend, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2010, at the age of 98. Born December 11, 1911, on a farm in Brookfield, Ohio, Carolyne grew up in Ohio, played basketball and graduated from high school in 1929. She married her husband Paul Burns in 1934, moved to California in 1945 and to San Diego in 1952. A resident of El Cajon for the past 36 years, she was active with her Red Hat social group and played bridge until just recently. An inspiration to all her friends in Villa Novia County Estates Mobile Home Park and everyone who knew her. Wife of the late Paul Burns, her husband of 56 years, survived by her daughter Sandra Matranga, granddaughter Laurie Pellichero (Rich), grandson Steven Matranga (Julie), great-granddaughter Nicole Matranga and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Villa Novia Country Estates Club House, 1440 S. Orange Avenue, El Cajon, at 12:30 p.m. Private family burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carolyne's name to Kaiser Hospice, 10992 San Diego Mission Road, 3rd Floor, San Diego, CA 92108 or to the charity of your choice.
