CATHERINE WERNER Obituary

WERNER, CATHERINE J. March 7, 1922 to Nov. 11, 2010 Kay passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup, Washington, on November 11th with her family at her side. Kay is survived by her three sons, Michael (Pak), Robert (Cindy), and Jim (Michelle). She also leaves three grandchildren, Christopher, Wendi, and Richard. Kay was born in Glen Iris, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia on March 7, 1922. Her mother passed away when she was a child, and she spent her youth living with her sister and father on a farm in the Australian Outback. Kay met and married Jake in Australia during World War II, coming to the United States in 1943 by military freighter. They lived in several East Coast cities during Jake's naval career, settling in San Diego, California in 1956. Kay worked for over 20 years as a retail clerk and retired in 1984. She and Jake enjoyed many years together traveling and visiting casinos. After Jake passed away in 2002, Kay moved to Washington State to live with her family, residing finally at Linden Grove Health Care Center. Kay was truly and sincerely happy to meet every person she was introduced to. She took a sincere interest in every person she met. She loved to listen to every aspect of her friends' and family's lives, hearing about our day and always encouraging us. She loved casinos, horse racing, and her beloved cat, Alley. Our family would like to thank Karen Whitten, Chris and Dee Flohs, Mike and June Ellis for all their care, kind words, and their love for Kay. If she could do it herself, she would give you all a proper thank you. Kay loved everyone and everyone loved her. Donations in Kay's memory may be made to any Humane Society. At Kay's request there will be no public services. Arrangements by Hill Funeral Home, (253) 845-1172, condolences to www.legacy.com/obituaries/tribnet

Jim, Michelle and family,
Kay was a very special lady and I so much enjoyed getting to know her especially after she came to live in Washington. I have fond memories of Kay and Bud and especially when they took the time to show me around San Diego sharing the places that were special to them. I am sure she and Bud are back together..May she rest in peace.
With Love,
Diane Forster
