CHARLOTTE BRATLIEN Obituary

BRATLIEN, CHARLOTTE MARY Charlotte passed away peacefully on November 15, 2010, due to complications from Alzheimer's. She was born on December 7, 1930 in Chicago to William and Agnes O'Neill. She was the oldest of three children, followed by Beverly and then David. She loved to sing, and as a teenager even won a singing contest for WGN radio in Chicago. She married Wayne Bratlien in 1950 and they had six children together. She was a wonderful homemaker, and was well known for her amazing baking skills. Charlotte and Wayne moved the family to La Jolla in 1968. She was a member of All Hallows Catholic Church and volunteered for many ministries. She was very strong in her faith, and enjoyed ministering for 17 years to prison inmates. Charlotte is survived by her six children: Craig (Winnie) Bratlien, Cheryl (Dennis) Mayville, Janice (John) Sbicca, Brian (Mark) Bratlien, Sister Mary Rose Bratlien, and Geralyn (Ross) Jaramillo, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her brother David (Marlene) O'Neill and Beverly (Bill) Marciano and their families. We will always remember the sweet aroma of her cookies baking in the oven and her tireless devotion to her children, grandchildren and her Catholic faith. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 6628 Santa Isabel St., Carlsbad, 92009, followed by interment and a reception.

We have such fond memories of Charlotte and her family. We remember so well Charlotte at Fr. Jerry's Bible Classes, Healing Masses and community meetings. She was a powerful prayer warrior, loved by all in the community.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures and videos of Charlotte and her family.
The funeral Mass was beautiful. The eulogies were each a very very special tribute to their mother. We are so glad we were able to be a part of saying goodbye to a very special lady and being able to see her special children and their families. We will always feel a special place in our hearts for the Bratlien family.

I remember the first time I saw the Bratlien family, when we moved to Avenida Andorra. The kids were color-coordinated. How did this sweet woman manage that???

The Russell family extends its sincerest condolences to the Bratlien family.

I had the privilege of getting to know Charlotte while I visited her every week at Mt Carmel Care Center, and I grew to love her. The week before she left us I talked to her about meeting her in Heaven. I know we will meet again when we will walk and talk together.
I feel blessed have known her, and appreciate her past ministries. God bless your beautiful family in the name of Jesus.

My My dad, Nick, my brother Kevin and I were so sorry to hear of Charlotte's death. We have been out of touch for a long time, but we all have fond memories of Charlotte. She was so warm and fun-loving, and I'll always remember her beautiful voice. I can only imagine how she must have loved being a grandmother. She will live on in everyone's memory. Love, Sandra
