DORIS MOORE Obituary

MOORE, DORIS "DOT" Sept. 30, 1927 to Oct. 20, 2010 Doris "Dot" Moore 83, passed away October 20, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. at home after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease. Dot was born September 30, 1927 in Worcester, Mass. While attending elementary school, she met and later married the love of her life for 64 years, the late Leonard "Len" Moore. Together they traveled the country and various parts of the world, while Len pursued his Navy career. Dot was the "rock" of the family and met the many challenges of being a Navy wife. Packing up small children, trailer, car and shipping it and themselves to Newfoundland was the first of many moves. She repeated this process every two to three years. During her 64 years as a "housewife," she was a model in a fur fashion show, a Brownie/Girl Scout leader, a Little League and swim team supporter and a Red Cross volunteer. In 1976, the Moore's retired to Chula Vista, Ca and Dot became active in the library, City events and her church. Dot was the loving mother of Sherry, Terry, Ann, Kay and grandmother to Nici and Nick. Memorial service will be included in the 10 a.m. service at the Chula Vista Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation or San Diego Hospice.
