EDITH BASINGER Obituary

BASINGER, EDITH BRADLEY Nov. 5, 1932 to March 18, 2011 Edith, 78, was born and grew up in San Diego. After graduation from Kearny HS in 1950, she worked at Camp Elliott, where she met her husband William (d. 2000). She soon put her career on hold to raise their five children. Edith was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. As her own children got older, she opened her home to a variety of students over the years. She also returned to school for training in a new career as a medical transcriptionist. Edith is survived by sons Robert (Kathy) and James (Renee) of San Diego, Richard (Linda) and David (Melissa) of Poway, daughter Patricia Quinn of Colleyville, TX, and grandchildren Jeffrey, Kelsey, Preston, Bradley, Shelby and Charlie. She is also survived by brother Gordon "Hal" (Pauline) Bradley of San Diego, brother-in-law Robert (Caryl) Basinger of Poinciana, FL, sister-in-law Jean Basinger of Mansfield, OH, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends Beverly Florang, Beverly Hart and Frances Folker. She was loved and will be missed by all. No service is planned; instead, per Edith's preference, a celebration of her life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to one of Edith's preferred charities such as the Humane Society.

I would like to extend my sincerest sympathies to my dear fried Jim and the entire Basinger family, who have suffered a tremendous loss with Edith’s death.

I knew her simply as ‘Jim’s mom.’ She was a kind, compassionate and wonderful woman who reminded me very much of a real-life Aunt Bee.

In their loss, Heaven has gained another angel - one who will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
