EDNA HUGHES Obituary

HUGHES, EDNA FAY Born in West Apollo, Pennsylvania on November 9, 1928 to Wayne and Kathryn Shaw. Fay lived a long and rich life and passed away on September 14, 2010. Arriving in San Diego in 1961, she had a varied career - achieving a medical secretary certificate, working at Solar International and San Diego County Revenue and Recovery. She retired in 1980 as a board clerk for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. She and her husband of 40 years enjoyed their wonderful extended family. She is survived by her husband Thomas E. Hughes, sisters Cora, Madeline and Donna, brother Jim, sons Bill Cupples, Jim Moore, Howard Hughes, Thomas Hughes, daughters Joan Short, Sue Ann Monteleone, Jackie Keith and Allison Weir, 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchild-ren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and friend. A memorial celebration for family and friends will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the family home in Mira Mesa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a Cancer Society.
