I knew Miss Francys from 1955 when her husband was the Navy Chief who ran me through boot camp, and we became friends for life. I Navy spent time off in their home on Everview Road. They were godparents to my daughter, who bears the same middle name as Miss Francys. Now living in San Diego, I always think of them when I drive past the I-5 exit to their house. My wife and I visited them in Tuscaloosa, and when Miss Francys was in the nursing home, we stopped to see her on drives cross country. I kept in touch by phone and in the last months by greeting cards. She was always a teacher in spirit, and a spirited individual who inspired many, including me.

I am one of Francys Mallett's sisters. We appreciate Karen Friedrichs' comments. Francys enjoyed the updates Karen sent her on the additions to their former home. Hers and Nolen's years there were happy ones and she was glad to know Karen enjoyed the neighborhood too.

I'm sorry to hear of Francys passing. I bought their home in San Diego in 1989, just before they moved to Alabama. I'd exchange photos and Christmas cards with them and then with Francys over the years. I'm still here enjoying their former home and neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Karen Friedrichs
