MALLETT, FRANCYS RUTH KILGORE Francys Ruth Kilgore Mallett, age 93, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama died October 31, 2010 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, with Rev. John Scott officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Oscar Kilgore, Sr. and Gertrude Cox Kilgore, her husband James Nolen Mallett, and her brother, William O. Kilgore, Jr. Survivors include her sisters, Jane Hinton, Aileen Henderson, and Mary Alice Munn, sister-in-law, Betty Jo Watkins, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Mallett was born in Coaling, Alabama, on May 13, 1917. She graduated from Brookwood High School, and later from San Diego State University and received California teaching certification. She and her Navy husband, Nolen Mallett, lived for many years in San Diego, California, where she taught third grade at Bay Park Elementary School. Following retirement, the couple moved back to Tuscaloosa. She was a member of Big Hurricane Baptist Church. The family truly appreciates the loving care given Mrs. Mallett by the Station 3 staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home and the compassionate, caring staff of Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Hurricane Baptist Church (P.O. Box 5, Brookwood, AL 35444) or Hospice of West Alabama (3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404).
