Silvia,
I am sorry that I was not feeling well the entire time you were here in SD for Todd's services, yet I know you understand and are as loving and forgiving as ever.

Even though I could not be there for the services I have come to know, I have always known, how much Todd meant to you.

Cherish the good memories the two you have together....for ever. It is through those fond memories that Todd lives. And always remember, that with out the love you two shared, there would not be sorrow, for it is your sorrow that is the ultimate expression of your enduring love.

Your friend and proud to be your angel,
Nick Hubsmith

Dear Silvia,
I don't have a current address for you, so I'm glad this book is here.
We haven't seen each other in many years, but I want to share what comes up when I remember you and Todd: it just always felt good, warm, and safe. Two smart, energetic, funny, mischievous, generous people, who took the time to make others feel like you were glad to see them. That's no small thing.
My condolences, Silvia – and imagine getting a long, quiet hug from me folded into this message.
Regards,
Hester, SF City Guides

The loss of anyone close is cause for silent reflection and in my meditations I seek comfort from the words of a Classical Greek writer: "...he who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget, falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom by the awful grace of God". Those Todd touched is in our history and we all carry a part of him into our future. May he rest in peace.

Todd was an incredible person with a strong spirit and genuine love for life. It was a true pleasure having the opportunity to get to know Todd over the last couple of years. Todd is genuinely missed by his circle of friends here in San Diego. Todd will always remain in our hearts.

Todd will always be remembered as " too gross for guys ". As one of our famous fishing foursome, and a very close personal friend, he will be missed but never forgotten. I will say a special prayer to the fishing gods every time I hit Lake Almanor. Of course, we used to pray to the fishing gods when Todd was alive, but that never seemed to work...

Todd was my bother-in-law. On our very first meeting he introduced himself as Mr. Awesome and in retrospect I suppose there was some truth in that. He certainly has an awesome family.

Todd was very kind to me and my family but most of all he was good for my sister Silvia. I too will miss his wit but most of all I will miss our conversations.

As trainees at Industrial Indemnity back in the early nineties, 3 of us had to go to San Francisco for our final training session. Coincidentally, our local office counsel was headed to San Francisco for a meeting with Todd and had arranged a ski trip to Tahoe with him. Somehow, the 3 of us were added to the ski trip. Since his “business personality” preceded himself, I was the newest one of the 3 trainees & our local office attorney wanted to have some fun at my expense ; I got stock with the shotgun seat and braced myself for the ride to hell. Was I ever wrong, and I am glad it was me who got to sit next to Mr. Awesome as he always introduced himself. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Vaya con Dios amigo,

A good mind, a big mouth, a warm heart, a quick wit, that was the Todd I knew and will miss. With me in spirit when I trim my Christmas tree. May all his friends and family have such a memory to treasure.

I treasure our tenure on the City Guides Management Board, during a remarkable transition for the organization. His voice could be intimidating - that low growl could be hard to fathom at first. However, one quickly discerned a kind and cooperative nature that became a hallmark of board discussions. We'll miss him!

I miss my husband Todd very much. Although we had our differences we loved each other to the end. I will miss his wicked sense of humor, his dumb jokes and his brilliant mind. He had the biggest heart and would love to take care of people. He adored his children and his family. He was a good man and I will miss him deeply.

I knew him as Gregory Stress when we were at St. Charles together. I remember my mother giving his mom, Marie my brother's baby crib. I had two crushes in grammer school and Gregg was one of them. I will attend the services on Saturday.

I grew up down the alley from Todd and his family. Our mothers were very close friends. He was a wonderful wonderful friend, and will never be forgotten. All my love to Marianne, Michelle, and Jeff.

I went to school for a number of years at St Charles Borromeo with Todd graduating together in 1963 and one year at USDHS. I remember him for his classroom smarts and athletic abilites. To this day, no one has forgotten that championship game at Balboa Stadium with Helix High in which Todd was part of. Condolences to the family. - Mario Rabello
