GUY HALAC Obituary

HALAC, GUY EDWARD Sept. 27, 1959 to October 26, 2010 . Guy Edward Halac, lost his life Tuesday night October 26, 2010 in a freeway accident at 51 years old. He was born and raised on September 27, 1959 in San Diego, CA.
He is survived by his wife Sheri Halac, and his two children Rachelle and Justin Halac, his mother Lorraine and brothers John and Steven.
Guy attended Jefferson Elementary School, Roosevelt Jr. High School, Francis Parker High School and Coleman College.
After graduating college, he continued on to pursue career as a Manufacturing Engineer. He was employed at L3 Communications for 25 years.
Guy was an avid sports enthusiast. He especially loved auto racing and NASCAR events. He was a dedicated San Diego Padres and Chargers fan. As a teenager, Guy loved to play Hockey. Soccer, also, was a big part of his life.When his children were younger he enjoyed being their coach, as well as, a referee for many years.
Knowledge was Guy's forte. His memory was keen and he was an avid reader. He could recall almost everything he ever read or encountered. By the age of five he could recite all of the presidents, their vice-presidents, and cabinet members. Since then Guy has never lost an interest in politics.
Guy was a devoted son, brother, husband and father, had a great sense of humor, and truly cared for the people in his life. He lived a full, although short life doing the things he loved. He will be missed deeply by his family, friends, and co-workers. We will always have cherished memories of his life.

It's been nearly a year since we lost Guy. I still find myself thinking about him very often. I miss him terribly and at my new job I often catch myself wishing he were here to laugh and scheme with.
Time has really shown me what a wonderful person he was to know and call a friend. Sheri, Justin and Rachelle; my heart still goes out to you.
Reading the other notes in this sympathy board really helped fill in more of the whole picture of who he was.

I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up with Guy and remember well. Always brings a smile to my face. I was so sorry to read about this. I remember when we went to a Chargers game together and the time we spent as friends. I will remember the days when he worked at Food Basket and the bikes rides - such a long time ago. While I no longer live in San Diego - when I visit North Park some of those memories growing up there always include Guy.

Guy was a ray of light and fun in a workplace that could be stressful and abusive. He had the most irreverent sense of humor imaginable; I was always worried that management would come around the corner when he was in full form. But he was also a thinker, a great conversationalist with informed opinions about everything imaginable.
And incidentally, extremely thorough and expert in his work. He was a joy to know and an honor to have worked with.

My prayers go out to Guy's family. I met Guy just about 10 years ago thru AYSO soccer. We coached teams in the same age group and latter on he coached my daughter on his indoor soccer team. Those were fun times. Among the many overly excitable soccer adults, I remember Guy had strong voice but stayed pretty calm and even tempered when dealing with the kids and other coaches (like me). In recent months, I use to see Guy and his son at the LA Fitness and always enjoyed talking to him there. It was my priviledge to have been one of Guy's assistant referee the weekend before his accident. After that game, I remember thinking to myself that it was one of the most enjoyable games I had participated in in a long time. Guy kept that game flowing so well and he just seem generally happy, always giving his AR's an occasional thumbs up. Guy was one of the good people and will be missed by his AYSO friends. I pray that the Lord will comfort Guys family during this difficult time. Respectfully, Bill Flint.

To the Halac Family;
I am so sorry for your loss. You have my deepest sympathy. Guy and I met in junior bowling as young teenagers. It didn't take long for us to become close friends. Guy was a true friend, one who had heart. His sense of humor and smile just brought things to life. There wasn't one special Guy story to tell, just a thousand small ones that, even through my current sadness, still bring a smile to my face.
Please again accept my condolences.

Guy will indeed be sorely missed, but more importantly he will long be remembered for all that he brought to so many lives, both young and old. His involvement in soccer while encouraging so many boys and girls to share his love of the sport, will be one of many legacies he has endowed us with. Our lives have been enriched by his passion, and touched by his smile. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to his family, friends and associates who so intensely share in such a profound loss from his unexpected departure. Be comforted in knowing that heaven was made for such a faithful soul, and pray for a day when we all can be greeted by his infectious and welcoming grin.

Sheri, Rachelle, and Justin: I pray for the Lord's comfort, peace, and His love to be with you all, at this time of grief, over the sudden loss of your husband and Dad. I was shocked and so saddened to read in the newspaper today, of Guy's tragic death. Your family was an important support and refuge for my grand daughter, Kayla Johnston during some hard years of her life. I am grateful; Thank You. Kayla is now in Basic Training for the Army National Guard. I am praying for you, that the Lord will hold you in His arms of care.
God Bless You. In His love, Sherry Zastoupil

Coach, you will be sorley missed by all of the kids you so graciously gave to of your time. Thank you for that. I also enjoyed being your "team mom", as you always respected my role in that position. You always allowed me to help you wherever I could for the betterment of the team. You were such an asset to the AYSO organization, and my children are better soccer players because of your passion and dedication to the sport. We pray for your family, and we pray that the good Lord has taken you under his wing. Until the next great soccer match in the sky, we wish you farewell and calm seas, and may the wind be always at your back.
With great sorrow and admiration,
The Erwin Family:
Debbra Erwin (Your Team Mom);
Darrell Erwin, Esq. (Your Team Sponsor);
Phillip Erwin, (Your player and now proudly serving in the United States Navy);
Sarah Erwin; and
Trevor Erwin (our newest future soccer player).

THANK YOU COACH!!!
