JEFFREY C. SCHEIDEL

SCHEIDEL, JEFFREY C. July 18,1958 to December 2, 2010 Jeff Scheidel was the oldest of five children and was born in San Diego. For those who knew Jeff, it was clear that his priorities were his family and his profession, both of which he was very passionate about. He was proud to be a civil engineer and past president of the Associated General Contractors of America, San Diego Chapter. Jeff also had a passion for the law, which was fulfilled through the completion of his Jurist Doctorate of Law, and membership with The State Bar of California. As an integral part of the family business - Scheidel Contracting and Engineering Inc. - he was committed to building infrastructure for the community, which he valued greatly. Among his favorite things were boating and fishing with his family, and generally creating unique experiences for his children. He also enjoyed coaching football and attending the Cathedral Catholic High School football and lacrosse games. His sense of humor punctuated his life, as he was always ready with the next line. He loved to laugh, which naturally engaged those around him. After being diagnosed with esophageal cancer less than two months ago and then enduring the most aggressive chemotherapy treatment available, his journey in life was cut short at just 52 years of age. Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Marta, and his four beautiful children, Shalyn, Sydni, Justin, and Jacob, along with his son-in-law Jeff, and two grandchildren, Grace and Wyatt. His mother, Carolyn, brother and sisters, Kristina, Suzanne, Alisa, and Matthew, and four nieces are very proud of their son, brother, and uncle. His family loved him dearly and will miss him every day. The viewing will be held at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary on Wednesday, December 8th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services for Jeff will be held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in La Mesa on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacob Scheidel Benefit Donation Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, account #9553579856. This fund has been created to assist with the education of Jeff's youngest son, Jacob.
