JEROME WALLANDER Obituary

WALLANDER, JEROME BRANDVOLD April 7, 1925 to Sept. 16, 2010 Jerome Wallander, 85, passed away Thursday evening, September 16, 2010. He was one of four children born and raised in Froid, Montana. Jerry first came to San Diego in 1943 and joined with his ship the USS Paul Hamilton where he served in the South Pacific during World War II. Jerry attended the University of Montana and after a brief recall to Navy duty for the Korean War, he graduated from the University of Montana law school, passed the Montana bar and went home to Froid where he practiced law and worked for the family business. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Helen of La Mesa, his daughter Karen Nelson of Shelby, WI, son Daniel of Albuquerque, NM, grandson Eric Nelson, and granddaughter Devin Nelson and many good friends. His daughter wrote, "To live in the heart we leave behind is not to die. My dad passed away last night, I am sad I will not hear his voice or feel the touch of his hand. He was not one to focus on what wasn't, but rather on what was. I know he is embracing a new adventure. I love you dad." His final wishes were for cremation and burial at sea. The family will have a private service.
