JOAN M. MEISTER

MEISTER, JOAN M. June 2, 1927 to October 5, 2010 Joan Marie (Smyth) Meister, 83, passed away October 5th in San Diego. Joan was born June 2, 1927 to Joseph and Mary Caroline Smyth in New York. She was a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and worked as a fabric designer. She was a volunteer in Deer Park, NY over 30 years and at the Balboa Park Visitors Center 10 years. Joan cheered her children in high school and college sports, and attended her grandchildren's graduations, performances and sports. She stressed education to her children, welcomed daughters-in-law and made friends everywhere. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Richard "Bill"; loving mother of Richard, Jr. (Julie), Stephen (Dervilla McCann), John (Jean), Charles (Lawry), and Phyllis Clifford; grandchildren, Richard, Katherine, Sarah, Liam, Aiden, Elizabeth, Caroline, William, Barrett, Evan, Esther and Grace Clifford; dear friend to Phyllis Seskin and Frank and Rosalia Crivello; devoted sister of Virginia (Donald) Mackey and brother Ronald Smyth, the late Joseph Smyth and sister-in-law of the late Patricia Mead Smyth.
