LUIGI LACAVA Obituary

LACAVA, LUIGI Nov. 15, 1925 to Nov. 17, 2010 Luigi Lacava peacefully passed away from complications due to advanced Alzheimer's two days after his 85th birthday. Luigi was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Calabria, Italy and followed his father and siblings in pursuit of the American Dream. Luigi married Elizabeth (Betty, Bettina) shortly before departing for the United States and she joined him in San Diego one year later. He retired from General Dynamics after 40 years of service. In his retirement, Luigi enjoyed family get-togethers, traveling, volunteering at Kaiser Hospital, and his grandchildren's events. He worshiped at Saint Therese Catholic Church and was an active member of the 55+ Club. He was proudest of his two children and his four grandchildren in whom he instilled the importance of family. He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Elizabeth, his children Joe and Rosemarie (Marshall), their spouses Lorene and Brian, grandchildren Valerie, Melanie, Christina, and Jonathan. They will miss his infectious smile and his favorite saying-- life gets better with age. Services will be held at Saint Therese Catholic Church (6016 Caminito Rico). He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.

Joe and Family, I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your father. It doesn't seem to matter how old we are, the passing of a parent is always very difficult. It sounds like he lived a wonderful, full life surrounded by those he loved dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Sherry Teresa
