MARIA HERBERICH Obituary

HERBERICH, MARIA DE REFUGIO CARRILLO Maria de Refugio Carrillo Herberich, known as Marie, daughter of the late Jesus and Andrea Carrillo, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of November 28th, surrounded by loving family members. Marie was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, May 1, 1916. In 1918, she immigrated with her family to Kansas and eventually settled in Milwaukee, WI, where she met and married Charles Skeffington McCormack, an engineer with Allis Chalmers, Co. They had five children: Maureen, Elena, Virginia, Michael and Rosaleen. The family relocated to Chula Vista, CA in 1957 when Charles recived an engineering position with General Atomic where he worked until his untimely death in 1960. In 1970 Marie married Martin Herberich and they enjoyed a 22 year marriage before his death in 1993. She is survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law Cruz and Margaret Carrrillo, her children and grandchildren: Maureen, grandson Bret, Elena, Virginia, husband Peter, grandchildren Brendan and Grace, Michael, wife Marleen, grandchildren Ben, Ryan and Katie, and Rosaleen. Marie was preceded in death by her first grandchild, Monika, daughter of Maureen in 2002. She will be dearly missed by her family. We wish to extend our gratitude to her caretaker, friend and companion, Guadalupe Franco, as well as to the Hospice. Rosary and viewing will be held on December 5th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Mortuary on Bonita Rd. A memorial mass will be had on December 6th, Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church on 3rd avenue and H street.
