MAXIE CASTLE Obituary

CASTLE, MAXIE KATE Maxie Castle, 87, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2010, at Pomerado Hospital in Poway. She lived a long, healthy life until her recent battle with cancer. Maxie was born in Dante, Virginia, on September 3, 1922. She lived in Castlewood, Virginia, for 30 years until she married Gilbert J. Castle, Jr. and moved to Columbus, Ohio. They had one daughter, L. Kay Wheeler. She was widowed in September of 1981. She moved to California in 1988 with her daughter and her grandson, Danny Wheeler. Her other grandson, Robert Nehr resides in Parker, CO. Maxie was a beloved sister, mother, grandma, and friend. She is survived by her sisters June Stumbaugh (Virginia) and Helen Gibson (Virginia), daughter L. Kay Wheeler, and two grandsons, Robert Nehr (Colorado) and Danny Wheeler. She was dearly loved and will be missed by anyone whose life she touched. Viewing will be on Thursday, July 15th, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a celebration of her life on Friday, July 16th, at 1 p.m. Both the viewing and services will be at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
