To the family of Pat Thistle,
I'm sorry I don't know any of you. I'm quite sure by your relationships with Pat, you are amazing people. Pat cared about right and wrong, was hard-nosed, very bright, helpful and had a lovely sense of humor. I could listen to Pat talk for hours and never get bored. I am saddened to learn of his passing, but happy to know he is in God's care and no longer in pain. May God bring your family comfort and peace.

Ann and Matt,
how lucky your father was to have such a wonderful loving supportive family through to the end of his life. He was blessed. Our thoughts are with you at this time in your life.

Dear Joann and family. Pat was my first real boss in a law firm and we worked together with Dick Castle on many issues involving representing police officers. I always enjoyed Pat's sense of humor and his genuine "Irishness". I have not been in contact for years, but note that he had several grandchildren. Having 6 children and 19 grandkids of my own I am sure both his children and grandchildren were a source of great pride to this kind, gentle man. May God's peace be with you and help you keep the good memories close. Chris Ashcraft, Oceanside, CA

Thistle Family,
Pat was a fantastic individual whom I met when I first started my career with the Sheriff's Department in the late 1970's.
Most memorable was his fantastic legal repesentation during the strike in 1981.
May God Bless,

Pat was my councel when I retired from SDSO. His style brought the county down off thier high horse in nothing flat. The guy was a real gamer. Pat cared for his clients and people. I am glad to have known a man with high standards.

To the Thistle Family,
Pat and his partner, Dick Castle, represented me during a very trying time in 1977 when I was terminated by the Sheriff's Office. They prevailed on my behalf but during that time and beyond they were always more than just legal representation. They became friends and supporters.
I always counted it as a great blessing that Pat had a soft spot in his heart for cops.... him being one himself and never forgetting us.
I am sure that St. Patrick now has the benefit of having a great counselor on his team....
God bless you always,
Mike Sindelar, Deputy (SDSO retired)

I spent many a moment talking, planning, conniving, and laughing with Pat when we were on strike in 1981 against the County. Pat was a great guy and kept me in check when I was a rookie probationary sergeant during those tough times. His background as a cop was invaluable to the DSA and I appreciated his advice and friendship. We shared a lot!

Pat and I went to St. Ignatius school. I remember that I accidentally clobbered him with my purse at a reunion. I am sorry to see that he is in God's band now because he was a wonderful young man.

Dear JoAnn & family: Pat represented me in 1974 when I was injured while a National City Police Officer. He encouraged me to attend law school and hired me as a law clerk to work with him and Dick Castle. The firm was Thistle, Krinsky, Idler & Lambert. I kept in touch with Pat after joining the District Attorney's Office and then when in private practice. After I became a Judge, my contact with Pat was less frequent. Pat was a real inspiration to me. And, what an Irishman! I recall many victories for the law enforcement officers and firefighters he represented. Pat always fought on the side of truth and justice. Part of what I am today is because of Pat. God Bless!
