STANLEY CHAMBERLAIN Obituary

CHAMBERLAIN, STANLEY BURTON April 3, 1921 to October 27, 2010 Stan Chamberlain departed this life in La Jolla on October 27, 2010. He was born April 3, 1921, in Auburn, New York. At the outbreak of World War II, Stan was a student of aeronautical engineering at Tri-State College in Indiana. He enlisted in the army and served in the Corps of Engineers in the European Theater, where he saw action in France and Germany. After the war, he completed his degree at Tri-State and went to work for Convair Aircraft Corporation, which eventually became the Convair Division of General Dynamics. Stan worked on the Atlas-Centaur rocket and participated in the Apollo Project with the Space Systems Division of General Dynamics. He was a member of the American Rocket Society and a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Stan was a parishioner of All Hallows Catholic Church in La Jolla since 1969. He served on the pastoral council and also contributed generous amounts of his time, talent, and energy to improvements on the church, rectory, and academy. Stan was predeceased by his first wife Gloria. He is survived by his wife Emma, children Kenneth, John and Ronda, grandchildren Sarah, Bonnie, and Amy, great-grandchildren Dakota and Riley, stepsons Chuck and Rene, and step-grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Marco, Odessa and Betano. Because All Hallows Church is undergoing renovation, the funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13th at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La jolla. In lieu of flowers, Stan's family requests donations be made in his name to St. Vincent de Paul Village, 3350 East Street, San Diego, CA 92102-3332.

Dear Emma and family, and John, Ken, and Rhonda
My deepest sympathy for your loss. My love to your families from ours. I,m so glad I got a chance to know Stan better at Hal's funeral and during our visit to to San Diego a few years ago. A determined, principled man that did care greatly for others. Thanks for your influence on him Emma. Gary, Pat, Michael, Kyle, Megan Chamberlain
