Walter was a great chair of Plant Sciences Department at UCR and also a good member of thye friends of UCR Botanic Gardens. He suggested we needed to collect meteorological data in the gardens so that we could more finely tune where plants might grow well.

I remember Walt as a fine colleague in Plant Sciences at UCR and as a active member of the Friends of UCR Botanic Gardens board of directors. He was instrumental in our writing a history of the Botanic Gardens.
