To the family of Winston, and especially to the sister who baked all those delicious cookies for those of us who counted on Winston to make us feel so special. I've known him for thirty years and will miss him with all my heart. He was a treasure.

Sincerely,

Olivette Griffin

Winston, dear friend, I am going to miss you. You have made my hair look beautiful for forty or so years! But that's not the important thing, you have been a good friend and I know that you and I went through every diet that was ever dreamed of. Be at peace====and know you have left behind many who will always treasure your friendship.

I was blessed to have Winston cut my hair every other month beginning in 1990 when I first met him at my son's wedding. He was in "charge of doing or re-doing" hair for the female members of the wedding party. I remember being scared - actually horrified - and certain that the result would be a disaster. I was 100% wrong. Up til then NOBODY had ever cut, styled etc. my hair without my rushing home and trying to undo the damage! Winston was a magician when it came to hair. He truly had a God given gift. He also was one of the sweetest persons I ever met. I will miss him greatly. Earth's loss is definitely Heaven's gain. May God Bless you Winston.

Winston was the best brother. Here are a few of my memories.

Winston took Glenda (my twin that passed away in 1985) and me to the beach and made (he made us do a lot of things, and they always ended up being fun) us jumped the waves. Way later in life we decided to go to the beach. My sister Carol came with us. We decided to rent the rubber rafts as we did when we were kids. They no longer had the rafts and we had to rent boogie board. Here we were, three over weight middle aged adults trying to ride the boogie boards. We laughed so hard that stomachs hurt and we got a sun burn. Another good time.

When he had moved out and started his hair business, he would have me and my twin over for the weekend. One time he had mom put us on the train as we had never been on a train ride. At one visit he made us walk to dinner and then the movies, it seemed to take for ever to get their, and we met Ed at a Mexican restaurant, Su Casa. Winston made me eat a chile relleno. I couldn’t believe he made me eat something so hot. Today it is one of my favorite dishes. We then went and saw Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte which scarred me for years. He keep telling us that we had to walk back to the apartment. And of course he was joking and Ed drove us back to Win‘s apartment. On another visit we got to stay with him at a multi-million dollar home in La Jolla that his was house sitting. He performed for us on their piano, he doesn’t know how to play, but he entertained us by telling a story and made expressions as he pounded it. He would keep us busy all weekend doing different things and playing jokes on each other.

Winston took care of almost every aspect of my wedding in 1976. He took me to different shops and helped me pick out my wedding dress, planned the reception, decorated the hall, arranged the flowers (he always made the most beautiful arrangements. They didn’t look like the usual floral arrangement), selected the menu and made arrangements with the people who prepared the food, did my make-up, hair, and nails. I had nothing to worry about as Winston took care of everything.

Winston always came up with new traditions. We use to watch the Academy Awards every year and we were bored. He assigned a stars up for and awards to each of us and if they won we had to give a speech. Next we were dressing up each year. One year he was Boy George, finger nails and all.

His birthday is in December and he came up with the idea that we (me, my sister, and mom) take him to the Hotel Del to view the lights and have coffee, we then drove around and stopped at different hotels looking at the Christmas decorations, had dinner, looked at more lights, sang Christmas carols in the car, and ended the evening at Extraordinary Desserts. Ed drove us around dropped us off in front of the hotels and picked us up when Win called him. Winston only allowed Ed to have dinner with us and the rest of the evening he was our driver. Winston made us dress up and he wore his tuxedo. One year Carol and I wore the same dress. He really got a big kick out of it. On this night, he would give us a present, even though it was his birthday. A few of the gifts were evening purses, necklaces, ect. We looked forward to just waiting to see what he would give us.

I can just go on and on. This is just a little of it. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Dear sweet wonderful brother, thank you for everything you gave me, I will miss you for the rest of my live. Love your sister, Linda.
