Edgar Lewis Davis

SOUTH BEND - Edgar Lewis Davis, 86, of South Bend, was welcomed to his Holy Feast Nov, 12, 2012, at home. Edgar was born in Carrolton, Illinois on March 30, 1926 to Kenneth G. and Florence (Roche) Davis. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1943, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving in the European theatre in General Patton's Radio Corps. He graduated from Northwestern University and served in various Food Service capacities, including National Sales Manager for Berkel, Inc. He was the founder of Hacienda Mexican restaurant, He also started Senor Kelly's Mexican-Irish restaurant and the Coffee mill in downtown South Bend. For many years he served as president and board Member of Corvilla, Inc. He was also the director of the International Restaurant Association.

On May 30,1981, he married to Ila Martin, from South Bend. He is survived by his wife, Ila; his 3 children, His stepchildren, his 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his a brother, Kenneth (JoAnn) Davis, and a sister, Dorothy (Dick) Doedtman both of Springfield, Illinois.

Ed was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother John, and his sister, Marilyn; nephew Rich Doedtman Jr.

A service celebrating Ed's life was held on Nov. 16th.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either St. Peter Lutheran Church: Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Pkwy., Suite 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to Corvilla, Inc., 3231 Sugar Maple Business Court, South Bend IN 46628.
