Steve A. Dwyer
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Steve A. Dwyer, 58, died at 10:54 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his home in Springfield.
He was born March 7, 1956, in Wood River, to Paul E. and Delores Lawson Dwyer. He married Laura M. Leach on Sept. 2, 1975, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters: Angela (Jim) Cooper, Katie (Adam) Sheraden and Casey (fiancé, Dave Ostrowsky) Dwyer, all of Springfield; one son, Stephen (fiancée, Rachael Stocks) Dwyer of Edinburg; seven grandchildren: Addy, Drew, Brady, Wesley, Jake, Owen and Hadley; one brother, Randy (Patsy) Dwyer of Springfield; mother-in-law, Patricia Leach of Rochester; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Dwyer and his father-in-law, Lum Leach.
Steve was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked at IDOT for 20 years most recently as a Highway Systems Manager
He was the Timekeeper for Rochester High School football games since the inception of the program. He enjoyed going to all his children's and grandchildren's games, never missing a game. His pastimes included crocheting, baking, fishing, and being with his family.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Noon, Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Probst officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Inter-Veteran's Burial Detail and the U.S. Air Force will conduct military honors.

To the Dwyer family, I want you to know your husband, father and grandfather has not been forgotten. I think of Steve often and was very glad that I got to know and was able to have a work-friendship. What a wonderful man! I still have work notes that I would have to send him once a year to remind him how to do a task. I can't bring myself to delete them.

Laura and family, I am so truly sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was one of the kindest people I've ever met. I worked with Steve at IDOT in the Vehicle Permit Office. He called me sunshine.
