SPRINGFIELD - Melvin Eugene "Woody" Woodruff, 68, of Springfield, died at 6:59 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his home. He was born October 30, 1944, in Springfield, to Vernon and Frances Watts Woodruff. He married Charlene Bachmann on December 6, 1974, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Tina (Wayne) Larimore of Choctaw, OK, and Brandi Moore of Springfield; one son, Josh (Jennifer) Woodruff of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Grace, Nicholas, Matthew and Benjamin Larimore, Caleb and Griffin Moore and Alivia and Josh, Jr., Woodruff; one brother, Lyle (Miriam) Woodruff of St. Louis and several nieces and nephews.

Woody grew up in Rochester and lived in Springfield his entire adult life. He was a US Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He worked for the US Post Office as a Vehicle Mechanic for 28 years and worked part-time at Memorial Medical Center as a security dispatcher.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home.

Lie-in-State: 9:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, IL.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, IL, with Pastor Michael Schuermann officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
