GENTRY, Alice I. - Mason City  
Alice I. Gentry MASON CITY, IL - Alice I. Gentry, 85, of Mason City, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. Clara's Manor. She was born in Teheran, Ill., on Sept. 22, 1929, the only daughter of Fred and Grace (Phelps) Bubert. She married James Gentry Jan. 16, 1987; he preceded her in death. Alice is survived by one brother, James (Rose) Bubert; one daughter-in-law, Erin Aldrich; three granddaughters: Tara Meigs, Jessamy Baxter and Natasha Baxter; a great-granddaughter, Bailey; a great-grandson, Chase Michael Meigs; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Aldrich; one daughter, Patricia Ellen Aldrich, two brothers; one nephew and one sister-in-law. Alice was a member of the Mason City Christian Church. She retired from the Secretary of State after 18 years in 1989. A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will take place at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, Ill. Memorial contributions can be made to: Mason City Christian Church and Friendship Manor in Lincoln. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is assisting the family with the arrangements. GEORGE, Charles William - Taylorville  
Charles W. "Jack" George TAYLORVILLE, IL - Charles William "Jack" George of Taylorville, 91, passed away March 24, 2015, at Taylorville Care Center where he had resided for the past ten months. The oldest Son of William Otho and Nora Zander George, he was born in Sisily, Ill., on Nov. 15, 1923. Jack served in both WWII and the Korean War and had flown 52 missions while he served his country in the Air Force. He was a member of the VFW Post 4495 and the American Legion Post 73 in Taylorville. He was also a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Alberta George of Springfield; his nieces and nephews: Connie George and Rita Busby (husband, Jim) of Pawnee, Bill George of Springfield and Terry George (wife, Nora) of Cocoa, Fla.; seven great-nieces and -nephews; seven great-great-nieces and -nephews and several cousins. He also leaves behind many friends and his good neighbors, Lynn and Carol, without whom Jack wouldn't have been able to remain at his home as long as he did. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond "Buddle" George in 2003. As Jack requested, cremation rites were accorded and there will be no services. David G. Gerard AUSTIN, TX - David G. Gerard, 64, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2015. He was born Dec 7, 1950, in Evansville, Ind., to Richard and Emma Gerard (both deceased). David is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy; daughter, Jessica of Houston, Texas; sister, Judith Wessel (husband, Robert) of Evansville; brother, Gary (wife, Mary Ellen) of New Harmony, Ind.; brother, D. Michael of Newburgh, Ind.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. David received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and his Master Of Urban Planning from the University of Illinois. He worked at the Illinois EPA in Springfield from 1975-1980, then moved back to his hometown to work at the Evansville Urban Transportation Agency. David moved to Austin in 1985 to work for the City of Austin Transportation Dept. until he retired 25 years later in 2010. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. David was a devoted husband and father as well as a great cook and gardener. David will be buried in his hometown of Evansville, Ind., on March 28, 2015. Condolences may be made online at .

Helen L. Goddard DIVERNON, IL - Helen L. Goddard, 82, of Divernon passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Heritage Manor. She was born June 1, 1932, in Glenarm, the daughter of Jesse and Lena Wilson Miller. She married Herman Goddard on March 17, 1951, in Auburn. Surviving are her husband, Herman of Divernon; two sons, Ed (Kathy) Goddard of Lakeland, Fla., and David Goddard of Chatham; two daughters, Patricia Fenton of Springfield and Debbie (Ronnie) Edwards of Christiana, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Joshua (Brinn), Heather, Jonathan and Eric (Nicole); four great-grandchildren: Alissa, Nickolas, Julee and Danica; one sister, Shirley (Dale) Losey of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dorothy Isaacs officiating. GRANT, Richard Edwin - Springfield  
Richard "Rick" Edwin Grant SPRINGFIELD - Richard "Rick" Edwin Grant passed away at 2:14 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rick was born December 7, 1943, the son of Edwin and Roberta Grant, who are both deceased. He and his wife, Alice, were married February 5, 1966. Rick graduated in 1961 from Lanphier High School and attended Springfield College in Illinois and Bradley University. He spent 32 years in the insurance business and was a representative for Prudential & New York Life Insurance companies. He finished his insurance career with Horace Mann Insurance Companies from 1981 until his retirement in 2002 working in agent training. Rick then obtained his Illinois Real Estate license and was a realtor for eight years. Rick played baseball for Lanphier High School. During the summer of 1962, he played on the Standard Concrete Pipe Connie Mack baseball team that was the World Series runner-up. In 2009, the team was inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame, something Rick was very proud. Rick contributed to the Springfield community through his involvement in boys' summer league baseball. He coached in the Khoury League, Peewee Reese League, and Sandy Koufax League baseball programs, briefly serving as the President of the Southwest Youth Baseball Association. The most cherished aspect of Rick's life was the love of his wife, Alice; son, Ric (wife, Jodi); daughter, Paula Heredith; granddaughter, Lindsey Heredith; grandson, Steven Heredith; grandson, Cody Grant; granddaughter, Delaney Grant; great-grandson, Braylon Heredith; and great-granddaughter, Kayden Markiewicz. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: 5–7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield. Private family ceremonies will be held at a later date.
