BEHRENDS, Henry - Kincaid  
KINCAID, IL - Henry "Hank" Behrends, 87, of Kincaid, Ill., and formerly of the Peoria, Ill., area, passed away Aug. 31, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. He was born Nov. 18, 1927, in Peoria County to Edward and Lydia (Sutter) Behrends. He married Mary Jane Stauthammer on Aug. 12, 1950, in Pekin, Ill. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. In his younger years he helped his dad on the farm near Bartonville. Hank was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, Ill. He served with the 5th Army during the Korean War. He worked at Commonwealth Edison at Powerton in Pekin. In 1966 he transferred to their new plant at Kincaid. He retired in 1983 after 28 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and hunting mushrooms. He is survived by his wife; son, Tedd of Lincoln; Nancy (Dana) McKinney of Taylorville, and Dennis (Barb) of Kincaid; grandchildren: Heather Westrick, Destiny (Scott) Herpstreith, Holly (Jeremy) Orr, Jennifer (David) Wayman, Rachel (Heath) Cunningham, Brad (fiancée, Kayla Koehne) Behrends and Lisa Behrends. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mallory and Macey Westrick, Dominic and Issac Orr, Laura, Julie and Matthew Wayman and Ava Herpstreith; sister Marg (Lou) Kirkham; sisters-in-law: Grace Durham, Ida Stauthammer, Pat Stauthammer, JoAnn Stauthammer and Sandy Behrends, all of the Peoria area; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Gerald; and sister, Reaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL with Pastor Rodney Bloomquist officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, Ill., and also for one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 N. Webster St., Taylorville, IL 62568.

CANTRALL, Bette M. - Chapin  
CHAPIN, IL - Bette M. Cantrall, 94, of Chapin, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 1, 2015, at Auburn Nursing & Rehab in Auburn, Ill. She was born July 23, 1921, in Chapin, the daughter of Earl and Cornelia Nash Zulauf. She is survived by two sons, Jim (wife, Donna) Cantrall of Springfield and Verney (wife, Tena) Cantrall of Glenarm; three grandchildren: Christine Cantrall, James Cantrall, Jr. and Eli Cantrall; one great-grandson, Bradley Johnson; one brother, George Zulauf of Chapin; one sister, Irene Bettis of Chapin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Zulauf and Romandell Zulauf, and one sister, Mary Lou Carter. Mrs. Cantrall worked at Sangamo Electric in Springfield for 27 years and retired from Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini and Chicago Bulls fan. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Ill., with burial at Chapin Cemetery. DAVIS, James Francis - Springfield  
CHATHAM, IL - James Francis Davis, 67, of Chatham, died at 3:18 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at his home. He was born June 6, 1948, in Springfield, to Billy Joe and Betty Jane Edwards Davis. He married Carol Ann Shaudis on Nov. 4, 1972, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Brian (Brenda) Davis and Chris Davis, both of Springfield; two grandsons, Colin and Gavin Davis; one sister, Alta Davis of Dothan, Ala.; one brother, Charlie Davis of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Margery Eilts of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. James was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an active volunteer for Clark Griffith Little League. He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching his grandson's sports activities. He was a wholesale food broker and most recently worked for Arrowhead Sales and Marketing. Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Service: Noon, Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the U.S. Air Force will conduct military honors. FRENCH, Dolores L. (Close) - Joliet  
QUINCY, IL - Dolores L. (Close) French, 79, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill. Born in Chicago, Ill., she lived there for a number of years before moving to Pontiac, and eventually Joliet where she lived the majority of her life. The last four years she resided in Springfield, Ill. A former member of the Ottawa Street United Methodist Church in Joliet, Dolores was a very active volunteer with deaf children through the organization SHHH. She was a devoted and loving grandmother and extremely proud of her Irish heritage. She enjoyed reading and was a lifelong Cubs fan, having grown up in the shadows of Wrigley Field. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Irene (née, Orr) Close, and by her brother, Thomas Close Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Richard V. French, of Quincy; two sons, Richard V. French Jr. of Waukegan, Ill., and Steven J. (Deann) French of Springfield, Ill.; three grandsons: Derek, Kyle and Jeremy French, all of Springfield, Ill.; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet, IL, on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, from 10 a.m. until services at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Illinois Veterans Home of Quincy, 1707 12th St., Quincy, IL 62301.
