FLOYD, Kenneth L. - Rushville  
Kenneth L. Floyd RUSHVILLE, IL - We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, Kenneth L. Floyd of Rushville. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at his home, at the age of 86. He was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Meredosia, the son of the late Newton Jesse and Julia Marie (Leonard) Floyd. He married Virginia C. Sokolis on May 21, 1945, in Palmyra, Mo. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2012. He led a very fulfilling life with many highlights. In his mind, his greatest accomplishment was his unwavering devotion to his wife, Virginia, of 66 years. Surviving are three sons: Jerald Floyd (wife, Ruth Ann) of Halfway, Mo., Larry "Lance" Floyd (wife, Carla) of Carthage, and Kenneth Allen Floyd of Springfield; one daughter, Jeanette Plaster (husband, Kim "Mickey") of Sherman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved companion, his dog, Angel. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Richard "Dick", Leonard "Bud", Granville "Jack" and Robert "Bobby" Floyd; and one sister, Della Louise "Babe" Reed. Kenneth worked as a mechanic at Pillsbury Mills in Springfield, for 47 years, retiring on April 26, 1991. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville. He was also a member of Local 24 Grain Millers Union, where he served as representative for 10 years. He received his diploma from the Industrial Training Institute for radio and television as a repair technician, which he operated from his home. He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and spending summers in Wisconsin. Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with the Rev. John Sowers officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, at the funeral home. FOWLER, Donald Delos - Rochester  
Donald Delos Fowler ROCHESTER, IL - Don was born to Delos and Fern Godfrey Fowler on March 15, 1926, in Geneseo, Ill. He departed this life on March 14, 2015. He married Betty Jo Dahlen on Aug. 29, 1953, and she survives. Also surviving are three children: Tom (wife, Lynne Hjelte) of Portland, Ore., Mai Britt of Rochester, Ill., and Birgit Burke of Laramie, Wyo.; five grandchildren: Annie, Paul (wife, Au), Eric Fowler of Portland, Miriam Burke of Trinity Alps Wilderness, Calif., Kate (Karl) Novick of San Diego; three sisters: Helen Ellsberry of Florida, Jean (Don) Bates of Princeton, Ill., and Peg Barnett of Younton, Ariz.; one brother, Arnold (Paula) of Geneseo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald (Lois); and sisters, Catherine (Al DeDoncker) and Neva (John Hungerford). He was a graduate of Geneseo High School, University of Illinois Champaign and studied at Sangamon State, now University of Illinois Springfield. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves retiring as Colonel. He was employed and retired from Illinois Department of Transportation Bureau of Research and Testing materials. He was a member of several professional engineering societies, St. Paul's 500, Ansar Shrine and Island Bay Yacht Club. He was a charter member of Atonement Lutheran Church and a member of Grace Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Springfield, Ill. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas B. Christell officiating. Visitation will be one hour before and one hour after the service. Cremation was accorded before the service. Memorials may be sent to: Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 714 E.
