Betty Lea Pruden 1923 - 2016 SOUTH JACKSONVILLE - Betty Lea Pruden, 92, of South Jacksonville, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born June 5, 1923, in Nortonville, the daughter of Olin and Alma Fanning McLamar and graduated from Franklin High School in 1940. Betty married Ray Pruden on January 23, 1945, in San Rafael, California and they spent the majority of their 49 years of marriage farming near Versailles. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1994. Betty is survived by one daughter, Sheila (Ross) Hodel of Springfield, two step-grandchildren, Keith (Angela) Hodel and Emily (Jim) Rowley, both of Springfield, six step-great-grandchildren, one sister, Martha Upchurch of Olathe, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia French and Mary Knapp, and two brothers, John McLamar and Merrill McLamar. Betty was a member of the Youngblood Baptist Church in Nortonville and retired in 1992 from her secretarial position at the Jacksonville Developmental Center after 30 years. She was an active and dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 1379, a member of the Jacksonville American Business Women's Association, and a member of the Idelle Rebekah Lodge in Versailles. She loved traveling with her sisters and had visited every state except Alaska. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Hersman Cemetery in Hersman. The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. VFW Ladies Auxiliary rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Youngblood Baptist Church or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com .
