DARNEILLE, Benjamin Kern - Rochester
ROCHESTER, IL - Benjamin Kern Darneille, 21, of Rochester, Ill., died near Farson, Wyo., on Aug. 24, 2015, as a result of injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Alex Greene of Orlando, Fla., one of Ben's best friends and with whom he was traveling, was also fatally injured. Benjamin was born Jan. 21, 1994, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Cherylee Kern Bridges of Rochester and David Darneille of Springfield. Benjamin was preceded in death by his sister, Emylee Therese Darneille, on July 5, 2015. Benjamin is survived by his mother, Cherylee Kern Bridges (husband, Sam) of Rochester; father, David Darneille (wife, Kate) of Springfield; brothers, Jason Williams (wife, Kristin) of Rochester and Edwyn Darneille of Springfield; stepsiblings, Branson Bridges (wife, Deanna) of Nashville, Tenn., and Stephanie Bridges of Arcola, Ill.; grandparents, Morris and Lee Kern of Vandalia, and Frank and Joan Darneille of Springfield; many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and many other family and friends that dearly love him. Both services are open to any and all who know Ben and will be held at the church that Ben grew up attending and where he was baptized, Rochester United Methodist Church, 555 S. Walnut, Rochester, IL 62563. Receiving of family and friends will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 1, 2015. Ben's Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept 2, 2015. We invite everyone to stay for a catered lunch after the memorial at the cemetery to share all the wonderful memories we have of Ben. A scholarship is being established at DePaul University School of Music Brass Department, the Benjamin K. Darneille Memorial Scholarship Fund. Ben was able to travel and spread his music, and appreciate the music of others all over the world, and it is only fitting that all of that should continue as he would be doing had his life been spared. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the scholarship fund may be contributed at both services or memorial donors may send their gifts to: DePaul University Advancement Gift Processing, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60604. A note should be included with the donation indicating that their gift is designated to the Benjamin K. Darneille Memorial Scholarship Fund in the School of Music, Brass Department. Donations can also be made online at: www.giving.depaul.edu with the name of the scholarship fund noted (Benjamin K. Darneille Memorial Scholarship Fund in the School of Music, Brass Department) in the Special Instructions field at the bottom of the giving page or call the Gift Processing staff at 312-362-8666.
