KELLEY, Michael - Belleville  
Michael Kelley BELLEVILLE, IL - Mike Kelley, 28, of Belleville, Ill., born June 9, 1986, passed away on May 14, 2015, after a courageous and brave fight against cancer. Mike is survived by his beautiful wife, love of his life and best friend, Sarah, nee Wingbermuehle, Kelley; his loving and sad parents, Carrie and Randy; inseparable brother and sisters, Erin, Tom, and Mo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Laura and Tim, Susan and Zach, Mary and Alex, and Anne; dear mother-in-law and father-in-law, Denise and Ray; grandmothers, Pat Fairbairn and Colleen Kelley; cousins; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles. All loved him so much and will miss him more. He is also survived by more friends and admirers than could ever be listed. Mike was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joe Fairbairn and Pete Kelley. Mike loved sports, particularly baseball, and was a standout pitcher for the Althoff, Belleville Hilgards, and SWIC baseball teams. He was a graduate of Althoff Catholic High School and Illinois State University and was employed as the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator by Lincoln Prairie Behavior Health Hospital in Springfield, Ill. Mark and Emily were his wonderful friends and bosses. Mike was the kindest, happiest, and most fun-loving man any of us have known. His life was his wife, his family, his friends, and laughter. He touched so many and made the lives of all he knew better. Visitation: Mike's family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015, and from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill. Funeral: A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Kenneth York and the Rev. Joseph Ring concelebrating the Funeral Mass. We are all so lucky to have shared his life, and his spirit and smiles will fill the emptiness in our hearts each and every day. KESSLER, Willetta Mae - Springfield  
Willetta Mae Kessler SPRINGFIELD, IL - Willetta Mae Kessler, 85, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Grove City, Illinois, to Raymond Hume and Anna Mae Hunsley. Willetta married James O. Kessler on May 6, 1949, in Springfield and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2000. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Mrs. Kessler worked for General Telephone Company as the Supervisor for Food Operations, for Illinois Bell as an employee of Service Systems Corp; she was the District Manager of Food Operations with the Department of Rehabilitation for the State of Illinois, and she owned Little Houses Etc., a doll house business from 1982-1988. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday May 21 , 2015, at Lakeside Christian Church, 225 Toronto Rd., Springfield with Nic Cook officiating. KVITLE, Martin David - Lincoln  
Martin D. "Dave" "Doc" Kvitle LINCOLN, IL -- Martin David "Dave" "Doc" Kvitle, 84, of Lincoln, Ill., passed peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill., with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Henry Johnson and Mr. Walt Zorn will officiate. Military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at Jefferson Street Christian Church on Wednesday, May 27, and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Cremation rites to be accorded following the funeral service. He was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Cambridge, Wis., to Martin and Doris Walrath Kvitle. He married Shirley "Ann" (Dennis) Kvitle-Bi on June 16, 1956. He later married Janet Lewis Nagel Kvitle on July 8, 1989. She survives. Also surviving are his sister, Ann (Ken) Kvitle Janecek; sons, Kirk (Barb) Kvitle of Quincy and Scott Nagel of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughters: Kim (Steve) Mitchell of Dunlap, Karen (Ross) Giesler of Metamora, Kristie (Neil) Goedhard of Renton, Wash., LeAnn (Russ) Holmes of Des Moines, Iowa, and Karen Nagel-Martinez of Lincoln; and grandchildren: Thomas Mitchell, Sarah (Kevin) Flannery, Jason (fiancée, Courtney) Kvitle, Emily (Chris) Peters, Hannah and Martin Kvitle, Gretchen and Alexander Giesler, Tyler Nagel, Emily, Cade and Elly Martinez, Lauren and Lydia Holmes, and Ava and Lars Goedhard; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Eugene Kvitle. Dave graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1948 where he played on the Wauwatosa High School basketball team that won the Wisconsin state championship two years in a row. He graduated from Luther College in Iowa and graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State in 1955. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Dave was called from reserve status (ROTC) and served as a First Lieutenant in the Army as a Meat and Food Inspector from 1955-1957. He was a large and small animal veterinarian who owned and operated Wes-Lyn Animal Clinic in Lincoln, Ill., retiring in 1999, yet continued to serve animal and farm families for several years. He was on the Logan County Board of Health and served as a school board member for West Lincoln School. He was a rabies inspector for Logan County and was the veterinarian for the Logan County Fair for many years. In addition to being a loyal Railers fan, he was a dedicated member of Jefferson Street Christian Church and many other community organizations.
