Phyllis (O'Reilly) Mansfield SPRINGFIELD, IL - Phyllis A. (O'Reilly) Mansfield, 88, of Springfield, died at 2:25 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015, at St. John's Hospital. Phyllis was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Kankakee, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Edna Schneider Hatting. She married Tom O'Reilly; he preceded her in death. Phyllis was a 1944 graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Kankakee and worked for the House of Representatives and Public Education, as well as the State of Illinois, for 18 years. She worked for the Department of Agriculture for seven years. She enjoyed being a member of card clubs with her friends, collecting Waterford crystal and Rockwell plates, watching movies, playing Bingo, and travelling. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Detmers; brother, William Hatting; and sisters, Betty Britton and Janice Ziemer. She is survived by three grandchildren: Robert (wife, Andrea) Hegland of Sherman, Andrew (wife, Abigail) Detmers of Chatham, and Thomas (wife, Breanne) Detmers of Dawson; and 10 great-grandchildren. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St, Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 2 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Sr. Maira Barry, OP officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. MASTERS, Frank R. - Carlinville  
Frank R. Masters CARLINVILLE, IL - Frank R. Masters, 58, passed away Friday evening, April 17, 2015, at his residence in Carlinville. Frank was born Sept. 12, 1956, in New Castle, Pa., a son of Frank R. and Eleanor Beatrice (Quering) Masters. After graduation from Pittsburgh University, Frank started his career with Exxon Mobil. He help build the Monterey Coal Mine #1 in Carlinville as a Mining Engineer. He later worked in the mine as a Supervisor. He retired after 35 years from Exxon Mobil as a Sales Manager. He enjoyed his career with Exxon Mobil and was a dedicated employee. Frank's real passion was the space program with NASA and enjoyed teaching others of its value. He enjoyed geology, boating, politics and was a great story teller. Frank married Denise M. (Allen) Riech August 8, 2008, at their residence in Carlinville. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jackie A. McQuiston, and brother, Bud Matiste. Frank is survived by his wife, Denise M. Masters, of Carlinville; daughter, Megan Masters, of Carlinville; son, Devon Masters, of Carlinville; stepdaughters, Megan and Sarah Riech, of Carlinville; stepsons, Andrew Riech, of Springfield and Nicholas Riech, of Carlinville; stepgranddaughter, Grace Pack; sister, Karen Lee Gish, of New Castle, Pa.; two nephews, Scott McQuiston, of New Castle, Pa., and Lance Matiste, of Poland, Ohio. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at a later date. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Space Camp for Children. MCFARLAND Sr., George Edward - Scottsdale  
George Edward McFarland, Sr. August 1, 1933 – April 19, 2015 SCOTTSDALE, AZ - George Edward "Ed" McFarland Sr., 81, beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Joseph Glenn and Emilie McFarland on Aug. 1, 1933, in Springfield, Ill. He married high school sweetheart, Carole Wilson, on June 17, 1956. He is survived by his wife, Carole, of 58 years; daughters, Kathy and Cindy; son, Ed Jr.; sister, Joellen Stringfellow; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering and served six years in the U.S. Navy SEABEES, as a Lieutenant. He moved his family to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1968. He was a volunteer Boy Scout leader; loved camping, exploring the back roads of Arizona; and enjoyed restoring antique cars. Ed was manager of commercial contracts for Garrett-AiResearch from 1970-1994. He will be dearly missed for his stories about his travels and life experiences. A memorial celebrating his life will be held in the coming weeks with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hospice of the Valley or The American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary in Scottsdale, Ariz.

MOORE II, George Arnold - Springfield  
George Arnold Moore, II SPRINGFIELD, IL - George Arnold Moore, II, passed away peacefully and without pain at the home of his beloved mother and stepfather after a brief, but courageous, battle with pancreatic cancer, on Friday, April 17, 2015. George was born Nov. 30, 1961, in Springfield. He is survived by his parents, Lilly and Bill Dalsin of Springfield, and George and Jean Moore of West Plains, Mo.; two precious daughters, Ashley Elizabeth and Melissa Anna Mae Moore; loving son, Brock Phillips; one grandson, Adam Pickford; his brother and partner in crime, Jeff (wife, Leslie) Moore of Springfield; stepbrother, Richard Dalsin of Springfield; stepsisters, Kathy Bramlet of Springfield and Blue Geiger of Bloomington, Ind.; half-brothers, David Moore and Paul Moore; his very special uncle, Danny (wife, Julie) Sands of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merle and Georgia Sands, and Robert and Daisy Moore; infant daughter, Melissa; and several uncles. George proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier Coral Sea and did indeed see the world. If you have ever eaten at Chesapeake Seafood House, you have probably enjoyed some of George's fine cooking, as he was employed there for the last 15 years. George enjoyed fishing, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind, generous, loving man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. Celebration of Life: The family will host a celebration of George's life at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffett, 2309 S. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to: Memorial Hospice, 720 N. Bond St., Springfield, IL 62702.
