PALUMBO, Viola R. - Quincy  
Viola Suits Palumbo SPRINGFIELD, IL - Viola Suits Palumbo, 87, of Springfield, passed away at 7:55 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Bridge Care Suites. Viola was born June 8, 1927, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Ruth Elligsen Hutmacher. Viola was the Director of Operations for the Illinois State Senate for 15 years. She then served as the Director of Special Events for the Illinois State Fair, from which she retired. In 1948, Viola earned the title of Miss Illinois and later in life also competed in Senior Miss Illinois. She founded the Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant and was its director for 35 years. She had a great love of traveling, and visited many countries around the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Palumbo, and parents. She is survived by two sons, Mark (wife, Bonnie) Suits of Greenview and Jay E. Suits of Baton Rogue, La.; four grandchildren: Adrianne (husband, Alan) Suits Bailey of Springfield, Lindsay J. Suits of Springfield, and Austin and Brett Suits of Baton Rogue, La.; one brother, Frank (wife, Georgia) Hutmacher of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Graveside Ceremony: 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Calvary Cemetery, 1730 N. 18th Street, Quincy, IL, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. PATTON, Una - St. Charles (Formerly Of Springfield, Il)  
Una "Lee" Patton ST. CHARLES, IL - Una "Lee" Patton passed Nov. 4, 2014, in St. Charles, Ill. Lee was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Effingham, Ill., to Wayne and Clella Manuel. She graduated magna cum laude from MacMurray College. Lee devoted her life to her family, advocating for those in need and enhancing the field of education. Lee worked in management at the Illinois State Board of Education from 1971-2004. After retiring Lee volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library, conducted oral histories for Lincoln Land Community College and the African-American Museum. She was active in the American Assoc. of University Women and contributed to court cases concerning welfare of children. She loved to garden and coordinated the beautification of the grounds of Country Place in Springfield. A flower garden was dedicated in her honor. Lee was an avid shopper, reader, and antique/art collector. She loved antique jewelry/Patty Doyle Auctions. She loved cookbooks, but excelled in making reservations. Lee was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Todd. She is survived by a son, Stephen of Chicago, and former husband, James Patton of Woodstock. A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2014, with a celebration of Lee's life to follow at Le Petite Creperie, on the square in Woodstock. A second service will be held at Panther Creek Golf Club at 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2015, in Springfield, Ill. Attendees are invited to bring pictures, stories, memories, and Lee(isms) to share. Jevaris Delee Pettis Sr. SPRINGFIELD, IL - Jevaris Delee Pettis Sr., departed this life Nov. 16, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1979 in Springfield, Ill. He is the son of Ruby A. Tolar-Wells (Robert) and Larry L. Pettis (Melba). Jevaris Pettis Sr. was an Instructor/HVAC Tech. at Midwest Technical Institute (MTI) for eight years. He leaves to cherish his memories: a son Jevaris D. Pettis Jr.; stepdaughters, Jasmine and Alaysia; companion, Adrienne Bennett, all of Springfield, Ill.; five sisters: Etoyria W. Hodges (Brian) of Springfield, Ill., Cedalia M. Tolar of Kosciusko, Miss., Yalondra E. Pettis of Springfield, Ill., Lekesh Pettis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Grace Walls of Richton Park, Ill.; and a host of special cousins, uncles, aunts, family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Rest M.B.C., 1800 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Springfield, IL on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and followed by services at 11 a.m. Bishop Herman Tolar will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Ray, Doris Mae - Springfield  
Doris Mae Ray SPRINGFIELD, IL - Doris Mae Ray, 88, of Springfield, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1926, in Clinton, Ill., the daughter of James and Mary Parris Lowrey. She married Carl Dycus Ray in 1954. Doris worked as a bookkeeper at Sears and as financial secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a very active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and at The Guiding Light Community Church in N. Fort Myers, Fla. Her passions included spending time with and caring for her family, mission work for her church, cooking and working in the kitchen both at home and at church, and cheering for her beloved Chicago Cubs. She is survived by her sons, Dale Colee (wife, Rita) of Forsyth, Ill., and David Colee (wife, Sandy) of Bloomington, Ill.; daughters: Donna Matheis (husband, Steve) of Springfield, Ill., Mary Ray of Springfield, Ill., and Patricia Dressen (husband, Edward) of Holly Springs, N.C.; a brother, John Lowrey (wife, Rose) of Sun City West, Ariz.; sister-in law, Dorothy Lowery of Champaign, Ill.; grandchildren: Teresa Saner (Dave), Cathy Crawford (J.J.), Christine Kolzow (Patrick), David Matheis (Sarah), Lauren Young (Chad), Erica Colee, Alyssa Colee, Bryan Colee, Laura Colee, Brandon Dressen, and Carly Dressen; great-grandchildren: Justin Crawford, Dylan Crawford, Austin Crawford, Matthew Saner, Andrew Saner, Kevin Colee, and Amelia Young; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; three brothers; husband, Carl Ray; daughter-in-law, Karen Dillon; and grandson, Kyle Stone. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Monday Nov. 24, 2014, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. RESETAR, Thomas Edward - Springfield  
Thomas Edward Resetar SPRINGFIELD, IL - Thomas Edward Resetar, 67, passed away at 9:53 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at his residence in Springfield. Thomas was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Newark, N.J., the son of George Joseph and Lillian Ann Anderson Resetar. Thomas was a graduate of Woodbridge High School in New Jersey. He graduated from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. He received his nursing degree from Middlesex College and completed his anesthesia training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Thomas was employed as a Nurse Anesthetist at various local hospitals, retiring from Memorial Medical Center in 2010. He also served in the New Jersey National Guard. He enjoyed playing cards, Corvettes, and traveling to warm destinations, especially Las Vegas and Mexico. He also enjoyed managing his own investments and saltwater aquariums. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his four children: Gregory Thomas Resetar of Springfield, Scott Edward Resetar of Chicago, Stacey (husband, Matthew) Mowers of Peoria, and Dawn Andersen of Springfield; their mother, Patricia; two grandchildren, Daniel and Colin Mowers; one sister, Janet Resetar of Ocean, N.J.; and two beloved dogs, Libby and Luna. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
