Carol J. Courtney

SPAULDING, IL - Carol J. Courtney, 77, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at her home in Spaulding.

She was born in Springfield on Jan. 1, 1937, the daughter of Robert G. and Dorothy Ellis Nichols. She married John W. Courtney Jr. in Springfield on May 14, 1954 and he survives.

Carol is also survived by her children: Robert (wife, Debbie) Courtney of Friendswood, TX, Daniel (wife, Denise) Courtney of Springfield, Jeannie (husband, Tony) Albertin of Atlanta, IL, Mark (wife, Elaine) Courtney of New Berlin, IL, and John W. (wife, Peyton) Courtney III of Riverton, IL. She has 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Beverly (husband, Joseph) Catalano of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents and eight brothers - John, Rick, Larry, Don, Tom, Billy, Benny and Phil - all preceded her in death.

Carol retired in 1996 as a manager with Taco Gringo Restaurants. She previously worked for Dickey John. She was a member of the Real Life Church of Springfield. Carol was an avid reader, loved playing board games and card games, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
